DIY Farmer’s Market Tote – No Sew Reusable Bag!!

I’ve been meaning to share with you this DIY for over a week now but the Utah trip really pushed me back a bit since I was internet free most of the day. It was kinda weird but a nice thing 🙂
One of my fave things to do when waiting in line at a store or at the airport is to scour Pinterest for cute nail designs, new recipes, and easy DIY’s. I love DIYs that involve T-shirt cutting but I really try to avoid anything that involves more than just scissors. As I was scrolling, I saw some cool T-shirt bag tutorials that inspired me to make my own Farmer’s Market Tote. I am so into fringe right now, so I wanted to design mine with long tassles all the way across the bottom. As you can see from the steps above, it really is simple, quick, and lovely!
This tote is so great because you can fold it into a tiny bundle when you head to the Farmer’s Market and when you’re ready to buy your veggies, just unroll it and bam – tons of space! You don’t even have to worry about the bag getting dirty because it is completely machine washable! You can wear it over your shoulder or on your elbow. I believe it looks quite fashionable and vintage dontcha think?
The whole process takes about 15 min! Be sure to double knot your ties on the bottom of the bag and pull pull PULLLL to get that nice, long, fringe look. Also stretch all the whole bag before using so that you don’t have weird looking unfinished edges.

I just made mine in about 15 minutes, and it was super easy, and it is completely durable! I just stuck all of my produce from home in it and it works awesome! Can’t wait to use it at the farmers market!

It’s really not as simple as it looks though. Or at least I found it more difficult. T-shirt fabric for one thing is hard to cut so you need sharp scissors . The fabric also has to be held straight when cutting or it makes for jagged edges. Then lining up each tassel to tie it.., I love the idea, but the execution was off. Wish I could make this work because love the picture. Maybe with practice?

I love this. I just made one with an old shirt and now my girls all want one so we’re going to pick out some oldish shirts tomorrow and make a couple more. It’s so simple and really works. Thanks for a great post….sharing this!

Well, if you make strands in the back and front, you will have bunch of strands facing each other. So all you have to do is knot the back strands and the front strands together. I hoped this helped, but sorry if it didn’t. I was never good at explaining things. -__-
