How was your weekend? Ready to start up week 4 of your #NewBodyMakeover meal plan? It’s the last week of Phase 1. Make it a good one. In case you didn’t get the password yet, it is “feelingawesome” and you can enter it here.
So I uploaded a video this weekend on New Year’s Resolutions. No, it’s not too early to start thinking about this. You’ve only got about 10 more days until 2014!! Some of you will be embarking on your 1st week of #NewBodyMakeover! Excited? So many of you have already lost weight and seen changes in your bodies. I’m super proud of you for taking control of your life. You are amazing!
I think we should all take a moment to ponder what our vision of 2014 should look like. Why not make your dreams come true? It’s possible. Just take it little by little…here are my tips for making a goal and actually reaching it!
1. Write down your goal – be specific – and paste it on your bathroom mirror to remind you constantly to stay FOCUSED!
2. Smaller goals – little achievements at a time add up to a big success at the end of the year. Don’t overwhelm yourself with one crazy goal.
3. Delete negative people and things out of your life – surround yourself with positivity instead. You want to create a nourishing environment that will help support your success.
4. Bet on your own success – with money! Lucky for you, I’m starting a Dietbet this January to help motivate you to work hard and take your goals seriously 🙂
You guys have been asking for another Dietbet since we did our last one September and I thought…why not do one for the start of 2014? Since our two Dietbets, the Blogilates Community has lost a recorded 55,000 pounds! How crazy is that? It’s crazy…AMAZING!
So for those of you new to Blogilates, I want to say 1 thing before I get into this: Only join if you need to lose weight.
I’ve been talking a lot lately about being comfortable in our own skin and not changing for others, but this does not mean I want you to sit around and do nothing. For those of you who are looking to lose weight to live a healthier lifestyle, to get stronger, more powerful, and to gain confidence and energy…this is for you. If you’re young, still growing, and aren’t sure if it’s ok for you to lose weight, please seek the advice of your doctor.
Now…this is how it works!
1) Go to Dietbet.com/Blogilates
2) Bet $30 that you will lose 4% of your weight in 28 days (ie. if you’re 150 lbs you must lose 6 lbs by the end of the game)
3) Then…we have our official weigh-in Jan 1 – Jan 3, 2014. You will be asked to take a pic of your feet on a scale with a secret password. Real people from Dietbet will be evaluating your starting weight to make sure no one is cheating. Same for the ending weight.
4) If you make your weight on Jan 31, 2014 you will win your $30 back PLUS a split of the pot of anyone who didn’t make it. Basically, if you lose weight, you win $!
The game is always really motivating because you have a community of POPsters who are serious about healthy weight loss and everyone in there is motivating one another to meet their goal! Also, you will have the January workout calendar AND the free meal plan to follow along. This should be easy breezy.
Since it’s the start of a brand new year, I wanted to ring in the excitement with some AWESOME prizes for you!! I asked you on twitter, facebook, and instagram what you wanted as ultimate giveaways…and let’s just say I took your comments very seriously 🙂
Here are the prizes that can be won just for being a part of the January Blogilates Dietbet Game!

Hi!

my phone but accidently deleted it! I downloaded it again and I tied uploading a photo
and it said click twitter (I do have twitter) but then it exited out of blogilates app and kept doing it, so
now I cant view nor upload a photo 🙁
Throwing this out there for others to see to write down my goals!! (Drum roll please)
My goal is no quitting till my final fitting for my wedding dress (YAY!!). I want to work on increasing my physical, spiritual, and mental aptitude ( graduating college), as well as surrounding myself with people who support this aspect of my life journey.
With resources such as this wonderful site, there is a way for me to become healthier and happier while I prepare to be in a life journey with my best friend. <3 <3 <3 <3
Thats funny that you say take negative comments to your advantage! I totally do this, I mean obviously it hurts like a lot at first but then I think that I am going to make them jealous of my new physique! 😀 F*** them and do your best every day! BTW please don’t do crazy diet stuff, cause in the end you’ll just gain it back! Good Luck everyone! Make 2014 even better! 😀
I’m going to sign up for this. I am getting married in June and need a motivator to get me into shape for my dress!
Kristine, we’re in the same boat! I’m getting married in June too. I’ve been putting off getting a dress because I still want to lose more weight. Luckily, thanks to Blogilates, I AM losing weight and getting closer to my goal each week! Congratulations and good luck!

can i join since im pregnant but im due jan 16th… id lose weight right when i hav her so would tht be cheating/? should i just wait for the the next one?
I think you should let your body rest for a while, it went through a lot. Relax for a while, don’t stress about your weight. Maybe, talk with your doctor, see what they have to say?
I say wait for the next one. Just my opinion, of course.Have a nice day! x 🙂
I have a 3 month old and I am not joining this dietbet, even though I really want to! I’m nursing, so I have to make sure I don’t restrict myself too much and lose too fast. I’m doing the January exercises (and on days when I feel really sore I will sub the beginner calendar) and I’m eating clean but making sure I eat enough to still be able to breastfeed. Congratulations on your baby!!
I wish it was that easy… deleting negativity… lately I get more negative comments or replies by my family and boyfriend that I wonder for the rest of the day what I have done wrong. I try to smile, to be positive and polite, to not get on other peoples nerves (that’s why I shut myself in my room a lot during the last days), to focus on my work (exam time, writing on my first bachelor thesis and trying hard to find a job for summer. I’m really not good in writing job applications^^”). So I know I can be a bit stressed and I can be complicated to deal with sometimes, but is it really necessary to tell me when I try to relax or am in a good mood: “don’t you have other drawings you can give me? (after working hours on a drawing for my mother)” or “Hey your butt got a lot bigger since you work out more!” (my butt never was small. I’m very petite on my upper body and my butt is like 95 centimetres broad. The thing I don’t need when I feel good with myself is to hear that I look fat and that’s exactly what she meant) or “Can’t you do anything but mourn and complain?” (I got this question when I asked about a funny smell in the fridge.).
Okay… I don’t want to mourn here, really. I’m very sorry if it sounded like that, I only wanted to show some examples what I got to hear over the last days. And I really wonder: Is it my fault? Am I the reason? What did I do wrong? – But more important: What can I do to CHANGE it? To Change this whole situation… and maybe someone (PLEASE!!) reads this and knows a solution or a hint. I’d be VERY happy and I would be even more happy if you might share with me what you are doing against stress. I am a person who stresses herself far too easy and even if it isn’t necessary. I know that but still I stress myself, can’t sleep well, feel guilty and bad and yeah…. maybe someone can give me an answer??!
In the end: Cassey, very good hints for the New Year and I wish you and every POPster here a happy new year as well 🙂 good luck !!!
A few years ago I was in a place that I felt overwhelmed and down, negative most the time. A friend of mine let me borrower an Audio Book – The Secret: The Power (by Rhonda Byrne). I felt that it really helped me at the time. It’s been a few years and I probably could listen to it again, as I remember listening to it in the car back then and I really enjoyed it. Maybe it would help you too ^_^
Good Luck!
Ps (I see the book is available on Amazon in a few forms if you search for it.
Kathy,
That sounds just awful! That the people you are closest to in your life, like your mom and boyfriend, are being negative, and trying to keep you down! I hope you can feel proud of yourself for recognizing their behavior for what it is, and for listening to your gut saying that it’s wrong. You are not just brave but heroic to speak up about it here. My mother was increasingly nasty to me her last few years. She was in a lot of pain but somehow I became the relief valve for that. I felt I couldn’t say anything because she was dying of cancer but my therapist encouraged me to set clear boundaries because my mother wouldn’t. When I was finally able to say, it’s not okay for you to treat me that way, our relationship improved. My standing up for myself ended up being such a gift because we spent her last year of life close to each other, and my children saw us have a healthier relationship. I’m not saying my situation is anything similar to yours, Kathy, just that I understand it can be scary to stand up for yourself. But the benefits may well be more, and more surprising, than you could imagine.

Thanks for this vid Cassey, I’m motivated to make a New Year’s resolution 🙂 Especially now cause I’m heading off to college, I will definitely have less time for working out and choosing what to eat. Thanks for 2013 Cassey, you’ve become a big part of my year, and my life <3 Have a great great new year to you! ♥
(Also Cassey can you make a makeup tutorial, because totes love your makeup here! heehee <3)
I second the makeup tutorial suggestion!
My New Year’s Resolution is to get motivated again. I love to run and workout and be healthy. But I have a knee injury and cant run (doctor’s orders…) This put me in a funk and I haven’t even been working out or eating right. I am so mad at myself and I started crying just looking at the mirror. I need to get motivated and start now. I am starting the 12 week makeover on the first and I cannot wait. I just hope I can still push hard in your workouts without over doing it. I think I may do the dietbet too. I haven’t done one yet and I think that will be a big motivator. I appreciate you so much Cassey and I want to make you and me proud.
Im going to put all my heart and soul next year to lose 10Kilos! thats all I need to be where I need to be to look nice! Im actually writing what I want and how I’m going to get it.
Love your videos Cassey!

Unrelated, but the Before & After page isn’t working!

Wow Cassey, the prizes are awesome! DietBet sounds like a really good challenge. But I’m in the best shape I’ve ever been, so chances of of losing another 4% is a big challenge. I also want to thank you for all the motivation you’ve given me this year. I’ve found real inspiration from Blogilates and looking forward to learning more from you next year. Merry Xmas!
Hey Cassey, All signed up to Dietbet! this will be my second time and I think its such a great motivator! My new years resolution is something I set every year on my birthday because I perceive that to be my new year. Well I set it to feeling healthy and beautiful on my Wedding day. Ive only just been introduced to you but I got my journal the other day and I have been following bits and pieces of the meal plan. Looking forward to starting this tomorrow 😀 Even though tomorrow is Christmas in Australia Im ready to be accountable and Im using this tool to stop myself over indulging as this can sometimes be an easy ‘out’
I hope you and your family have a safe, joyous and merry Christmas Cassey
From Emma
Hellooooo!!! 🙂 After I saw this video I downloaded your begginer’s calendar and I started yesterday! I’m soo excited to make the whole month. Thank you very much for motivating me, you’re helping me a lot! I’m not too fat I just want to lost 3 kilos and then make my body strong because I’m sooo weak 🙂
Merry Christmas!!!
I’m a bit anxious, but excited for this diet bet! I’m home for winter break for most of January, so that should make it easier. So excited!! My New Year’s Resolution is to get fit, and specifically to reach 115 lbs by my 20th birthday in December!
I wish I could enter but losing 6% of my body weight would render me paper thin. I really just need to lose a tiny bit of body fat. But good luck to those who enter! You can do it!!!!
Hey Lori! I remember Cassey mentioning something to encourage people not to join this if they were already at a safe weight for their height. I think diet bet is aimed at the people who venture to this blog that are over weight and need a little extra motivation to get themselves into gear for the body they want. I have herd that dietbet might be changing some of the parameters later on down the track to include, reducing body fat percentage or other things like that (so building muscles up if you already have that epic body youve worked so hard for)
Thank you cassey for all that you have done for us 🙂 You’re changed my life <3
Amazing prizes and great way to start the new year! 🙂 as for shoes, Payless always has some good ones 🙂 that’s where I go for dressier shoes
wow they are such amazing prizes! I’m not signing up because my weight is too low for me to achieve that, but I am going to make 2014 my year! Thanks for everything Cassey, your motivation keeps me going!
Thank you for everything you’ve done for us so far for the 12 week new body makeover! I have been adapting the recipes for the meal plan because of the availability of certain ingredients here and it’s been great! I’m actually looking to gain some healthy weight. Is there any other way of getting the password without joining the dietbet? Thanks a bunch <3
I had the same question, where can we get the password without doing the diet bet??
I wanna start working out again! Starting january 1th, with your beginner calendar in your app! 🙂 And, make a new blog :p
Hi Cassey,
I love the whole goal thing you’re putting forward for January 2014. The only thing I don’t agree on is the DietBet. Personally, since I’m petite, I’m not one who needs to lose weight (if anything, the opposite would be ideal, but through muscle gain). I do in fact need to lose body fat. A whole hell a lot of it on my stomach area, but I’m not willing to lose my curves because they’re what make me a part of my culture, and what has been known throughout my culture and what is considered beautiful within it. If you had a ‘game’ for losing body fat, yeah I’d go all balls to the wall for it. But for now, I’m sticking with my own fat loss routine ( a little pilates here and there – nothing too excessive, dancing, and yoga).
I think what your doing overall is great, and for the people who follow it completely and are losing waist sizes and pants sizes, yay for them – honestly! I’m happy to see whats to come for everyone throughout 2014. Thanks again for your great videos!
The DietBet is to lose bodyfat isn’t it? Ultimately that’s what we all want (me too around the stomach area!)
Also while I’m commenting I need some advice. I’m recovering from a broken right wrist at the moment (it’s out the cast but still painful with a little bit of tendonitis in my thumb), and find it difficult to complete some of the exercises. I go down on my elbow for those that I can but what would I do for burpees and arm workouts e.g. bicep curls etc (as I can’t hold heavy weights or do A LOAD of reps with a lower weight as the repetition of movement causes acheyness/pain). I’m on the 12-week body makeover and really want to make it count!
Hellllppppp!
Thanks 🙂 Emily.
Since burpees really targets your heart rate, you can substitutes it for a cardio move that gets your heart pumping like jumping jacks or anything along that range, you can also seek you physician’s advice just to be on the safe side 🙂
I do think a dietbet for losing body fat will be more inclusive. But it’s harder to measure then just weight. I would totally join if there is one!!
I don’t really agree with the Diet bet either because I tend to gain muscle rather than lose weight.
I’m not really sure what you mean by “not agreeing with diet bet.” It’s not a philosophy. It’s just an option for people that still need to lose weight. Obviously if you don’t need to lose weight (as in actual pounds off the scale not body fat replacing with muscle) then it’s not the best option. Cassey even says not to compete if you don’t need to.
Anyway, I agree with you that body fat is a better measure for people who don’t have a lot to lose, but until that becomes easier to measure/record I don’t know how diet bet would be able to use that as a measure for their bets.
Great tips Cassey, especially breaking goals down into smaller chunks and omitting negative people. Also, dietbet seems like such a great idea and I’m definitely thinking about it. I’m a little worried it will make me too hyper focused on weight loss and trigger unhealthy thoughts but we shall see. Happy Holidays everyone!
I am very excited and thankful for this next phase. However, I do not want to do the diet bet just because I am not needing to lose any weight. How can we get the password for the next week? I’m so excited for it. And BTW, even my husband is loving those yummy recipes in the diet plan. He can’t get enough of them and even he is excited about Phase 2! 😛 🙂
You can see what’s on Cassey’s dietbet site without signing up for it.
TOTALLY EXCITED TO JOIN! My sister join a week ago & has had great results. I’m turning 30 in Aug this year and I want to be at my goal weight by then! I currently weight 160 and my goal weight is 130, which I’m sure I can reach way before Aug! 🙂 I want to incorporate the “clean” diet this year, I want to exercise 5x a week, and each day I want to say “NO” to empty carbs. THANK YOU for giving me the tools to do so! I’m looking forward to seeing my new body in a few months! 😀
I wish I could participate in the dietbet, but I’m really happy with my weight at this point. Oh well, next year I’ll be travelling a lot and it may mean that I’ll put on a few pounds, so maybe I’ll do dietbet once I decide to want to lose them again haha! 🙂
Cassey, I think you’re so amazing! You’re the one who got me into the whole health-and-fitness-thing in the first place and I am so grateful! I hope I can meet you in person one day. Lots of love xxx
Wow…those are some AWESOME prizes! I am not personally signing up since I have actually already reached my goal-weight (through doing POP pilates and eating clean: it totally works!), but I just wanted to thank you so much Cassey for the generosity, love and thoughtfulness that you always show us POPsters. I can’t thank you guys enough for the help and support you’ve all given me this year, so let’s ROCK 2014 and make it a year to be proud of!!! <3
