“Healthy” Baked Donut Hole Recipe
It’s National Donut Day! Only in America right?
“National Doughnut Day originated with the The Salvation Army in Chicago in 1938 as a salute to the women who served doughnuts to U.S. soldiers during World War I.” – CNN
The Salvation army is also giving away their original donut recipe, courtesy of the Salvation Army Blog. I’ll paste it right here, but I suggest you read on and try the baked donut hole recipe instead.
SALVATION ARMY LASSIES’ DOUGHNUT RECIPE
Yield: 4 doz. doughnuts
– 5 C flour
– 2 C sugar
– 5 tsp. baking powder
– 1 ‘saltspoon’ salt
– 2 eggs
– 1 3/4 C milk
– 1 T lard
DIRECTIONS
1. Combine all ingredients (except for lard) to make dough. Thoroughly knead dough, roll smooth, and cut into rings that are less than 1/4 inch thick. (When finding items to cut out doughnut circles, be creative! Salvation Army doughnut girls used whatever they could find, from baking powder cans to coffee percolator tubes.)
2. Drop the rings into the lard, making sure the fat is hot enough to brown the doughnuts gradually.
3. Turn the doughnuts slowly several times. When browned, remove doughnuts and allow excess fat to drip off.
4. Dust with powdered sugar. Let cool and enjoy.
Now, the following recipe provided by The Frugal Girl isn’t Blogilates approved healthy BUT it IS healthiER than your Krispy Kreme. So have some fun and if you want to join in on National Donut Day fun, go for it! Or if you’re not up for baking, head to your local Krispy Kreme for a free one or stop by Dunkin Donuts for a free donut with purchase of drink.

Hiya people, I am a bit of a bathing room interior decoration junkie.
Hi everyone I personally was discovering this

insights for me to absorb. I have to express,
I’ve ended up unhappy most recently because my bro no longer is around. Looking through the internet provides me with a small amount of piece of mind . I would like to say thanks to you for the important internet based blog which will helps to spread the message in regard to bathroom designs even more! I actually was trying to figure out if you currently have rss list in order to always keep up to date at this website.
It looks delicious!! ¿How many calories more or less???By the way, could you do more new healthy recipes?¿? I love them!!! And could you also give options for the ingredients? It’s because here in Spain, its very difficult to find some of them or maybe they don’t exist. .
I want also congratulate you because of this wonderful website and also your youtube channel with all the workouts, I’ve discovered it recently but it has became one of my favourite channels ^_^
Sorry If there is some spelling mistakes but I don’t speak english as good as I wanted!! hehehe
I found making these easy and fun; and just a tip: if you find the dough too sticky to deal with when you are done putting the ingredients together, just put some flour on your hands to help roll it into balls if that is your aim.
