Ube Protein Milkshake (Thick and Creamy!)
Milky (without dairy though) and sweet with authentic ube flavor, this Ube Protein Milkshake makes a delicious and easy post-workout snack or anytime treat!
First things first: What is ube?
Ube is actually a purple yam! It has hints of vanilla notes mixed with an overall sweetness, similar to biting into a caramelized roasted sweet potato. It’s smooth, earthy, nutty and just plain delicious.
Traditionally, ube is used in Filipino desserts. But it’s gaining popularity in all kinds of desserts lately because it’s surprisingly versatile, and well, super aesthetic (I mean LOOK at the pics of this shake!).
It is THE perfect flavor for soft serve, ice cream, and milkshakes.
Seriously. Once my my new ube-flavored protein powder was officially in production, I dreamed of making an ube milkshake with it. When I finally got to try it, it was everything I hoped it would be!
Anyway, I highly recommend venturing out of your normal chocolate or vanilla rut and give this rich and creamy milkshake a try! If you’ve never had ube, get ready for this to be your favorite flavor too 😉
A sweet treat with added benefits!
A protein shake that is actually a milkshake? YES. This has 18 grams of protein so you can drink it after your workout, when you need a midday snack, or when you need a sweet treat after dinner.
I’ve done all 3. There is no wrong time for this protein milkshake.
This recipe is also vegan! I like to use coconut milk ice cream, which has a little extra fat to keep things super creamy, and I just love the slight coconut flavor in this shake!
